Unlock the power of compassion and create lasting change by donating today. Together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of those in need, providing them with a brighter future and endless possibilities.

Healthy Food

We struggle to get unga and cooking oil to prepare a basic meal each day. Even a single Shilling will go a long way.

Education

We have kids of different ages from kindergarten to early high school. Please help contribute towards their fees, uniforms, etc.

Rentals

We’ve been in arrears with rentals for several months now. We’re accepting rental donations directly into the landlord’s accounts.

Accommodation

All 54 of us are staying in 3 apartment rooms. We’re in the process of securing better space, we’ll appreciate any aid.

Active Causes

Please help us fundraise for the children’s home and causes that warm your heart!

Our Rentals Are Overdue

Our mission and vision

Mission

The mission of Upendo Destitute Children’s Home is to create a world where every child, regardless of their circumstances, can receive the necessary help and support.

Vision

To achieve better outcomes for more children – keeping children safe from sexual abuse, drug abuse, natural calamities, family conflict and exploitation; supporting victims and survivors to recover and rebuild.

Volunteer Testimonials

People who have been involved with the mission in the past.

As I spent time with these incredible children, I witnessed the profound impact that this loving home and its dedicated guardians have on their lives. Upendo Destitutes is not merely a shelter; it is a sanctuary where every child is nurtured, educated, and cherished.

Jed Gatheru

The children’s home exuded a warm and welcoming atmosphere, which made the children feel safe and cared for. The staff and fellow volunteers were friendly and supportive, creating a positive environment for everyone involved. I was deeply impressed by the dedication and compassion of the staff members. They genuinely cared for the well-being of the children and worked tirelessly to meet their individual needs.

I came here in 2020 when they brought in street children, but now I have seen a surprise – some of those who came from the streets are so changed and well taken care of. They go to school, attend church, participate in the choir, behave well, and know how to pray. They are very disciplined. The love that I have seen here for these children is Jesus’ love.

Nsimire Bashizi

We have seen life-changing results; children who were once on the streets have had their lives transformed. For instance, I met Naomi, who is now in her second year at St. Paul University Limuru, and Trezo Morisho, who is currently in Form 3 at Garden Estate Secondary School. He had no home and no future, but now we can see a tall young man pursuing his passion as a professional footballer

If I saw people who serve humanity, it would be at Upendo. Children are shown kindness, love, compassion, and unconditional love. I have been there during breakfast time, and the children and babies are handled with care and served the best food, even though the place is too small. Meals are well served. The kids are dressed very decently, and their school uniforms are very neat. There’s a good plan for enlargement through partnership and help.

Ps. Juliet Mutepfa

These children need food, clothes, school uniforms, and school fees. They also need a spacious home with a playground and facilities like a farm with dairy cows, chickens, rabbits, goats, etc. I appeal to anyone who sees the great work being done here to come forward with any support they can provide to keep up this excellent work.
